Axminster is an attractive friendly market town in the beautiful Axe valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty, boasting quaint villages and unspoilt countryside a few miles inland from the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
Famous for quality carpets started in 1755 by Thomas Whitt, Axminster has its own department store and Hugh Fernley Whittingstall’s restaurant River Cottage Canteen and Deli, and the world famous Axminster Power Tools.
The Saxon Minster Church is in the heart of town, where the thriving market is every Thursday, worth a visit a bustling little market and Trinity House worth a look good little department store something for all.
10 minutes’ walk away is the Flamingo Complex with a large heated indoor swimming pool also a hydrotherapy pool and fitness centre well equipped gym close to here is also The Lawns Sports centre with two cricket pitches and indoor/outdoor bowls and flood lit sports facility, with all weather tennis courts. There are also 5 golf courses in the area.
